The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has renewed efforts to connect more businesses, manufacturers and commercial operators to reliable electricity through its Eligible Customer Programme.
The initiative allows qualifying customers to access dedicated power supply under mutually agreed commercial arrangements, as the company seeks to bridge the gap between available generation capacity and the growing demand for dependable electricity from Nigeria’s productive sector.
NDPHC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, made this known during the company’s Customer Service Week in Abuja, thanking existing customers for their confidence in the programme and encouraging more eligible businesses to participate.
“To our existing customers, thank you for your trust. To businesses yet to join, power your growth with NDPHC’s Eligible Customer Programme, which offers dedicated power supply and mutually agreed commercial terms,” Adighije said.
NDPHC operates 10 power plants comprising 28 gas turbines and three steam turbines, with an installed generation capacity of about 4,000MW.
The company said its generation portfolio provides a platform for supporting large electricity consumers while efforts continue to recover dormant capacity and improve plant availability.
Its generation assets include major plants developed under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP).
NDPHC has also intensified efforts to rehabilitate underperforming facilities, improve gas availability and address infrastructure constraints affecting power generation and evacuation.
A recent milestone was the restoration of the 450MW Alaoji Open Cycle Power Plant in Abia State, which had been shut down since 2023 amid gas supply and metering disputes.
Its return to service adds to NDPHC’s efforts to recover stranded generation capacity and strengthen electricity supply.
For manufacturers and commercial operators, however, generation capacity alone is not enough. Businesses require reliable and commercially predictable electricity to support production planning, manage costs and make long-term investment decisions.
NDPHC said the Eligible Customer Programme is designed to establish stronger commercial links between generation assets and productive-sector consumers, potentially helping businesses reduce reliance on alternative power sources and improve operational efficiency.
Speaking at the Customer Service Week, NDPHC Executive Director, Strategy & Commercial, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, emphasised the importance of a customer-focused culture in delivering value and strengthening stakeholder relationships.
The event was attended by members of NDPHC’s Executive Management Team, including Executive Directors responsible for Generation, Legal Services and Networks, alongside General Managers, Heads of Departments and other staff.
“At NDPHC, we remain committed to powering the nation’s progress by strengthening the infrastructure that delivers electricity to homes, businesses and industry,” Adighije said.
The programme, it stated, aligns with broader efforts to improve electricity supply to productive sectors, support industrialisation and strengthen the commercial sustainability of Nigeria’s power sector.
